Utah Cheese Awards plans Expo-fest to cap it’s 2017 competition.

July 12, 2017, SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH — “It’s come together surprisingly well” said Salt Lake resident, Steven Jerman about his newly launched cheese and fine food award competition. “Were on track to exactly what I visualized”, he smiled, announcing a public event and market planned to reveal the winners and celebrate Utah cheese and it’s makers.

Billed as Utah Cheese Awards Expo-fest, the gathering will take place Saturday, October 28th 2017 from 3:30 to 9:30 pm at Church & State, 370 S 300 E, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

It’s one of the more unique spaces I’ve seen” Jerman continues, speaking of Church & State, a former lofty chapel which has been converted to a business incubator / co-working space. “I am very happy they see the value, stepping up to be the festivals venue sponsor,” he said, “Their downtown location is ideal, and the interior, like cheese, holds a bit of mystery.”

In addition to local cheese and packaged food vendors, locally made beverages will be available for parings. Live music is also planned. Tickets are $20 and include credits for food and drink, including the year’s winning products.

The focus of the event will be announcing the rankings for the first ever competition of Utah cheese makers, and producers of cheese plate products such as charcuterie, honey, sauces, fruit, bread and chocolate. Jerman says he added these categories for synergy – knowing that the world of cheese is slow-moving – and it wouldn’t create that amount of excitement by itself. “Chocolate makers have shown a particular interest.” he notes.

The Utah Cheese Awards contest is open to any commercially licensed Utah makers. The entry period is August 19 to 22. For more information and entry forms visit utahcheese.info. Detailed information on October’s Expo-fest and how to get tickets will also be listed on that site. The awards are sponsored in part by The Dairy Council of Utah and Nevada and Caputo’s Markets.
